About CHP > Leadership Team > Kurt P. Sligar Kurt P. Sligar, M.D., M.H.A., F.A.A.N. Dr. Kurt Sligar is an executive with over 15 years of leadership positions in a variety of healthcare organizations. He brings management experience in care management, clinical program development, operations, strategic planning, acquisitions, restructuring, and business startup. He is a nationally recognized healthcare consultant and has developed healthcare informatics and biotech startups. Dr. Sligar also serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of AdapCS, Inc., based in Marina, California, a privately held healthcare technology company. He served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, New England's largest health insurer with over 2.3 million members. Prior to joining Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Dr. Sligar served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Catholic Health Initiatives, a 72-hospital system based in Denver, Colorado. Previously he was Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Catholic Healthcare West, a 30-hospital system headquartered in San Francisco. He also served as Chief Medical Officer for Sutter Health System in Northern California. He practiced Neurology before beginning his administrative career. Dr. Sligar is a graduate of Whitman College and obtained his M.D. cum laude from the University of Maryland. He completed his Neurology residency at Cornell New York Hospital where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in Neurochemistry at the University of California Medical Center, San Francisco. He also obtained an MHA from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He was Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at University of California at Davis School of Medicine and Lecturer and Chairperson of Advisory Board, University of Southern California, Graduate Program in Health Sciences. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Sligar has served on numerous boards of directors of hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, and managed care organizations. He also is active in many professional organizations and has spoken to a number of healthcare audiences nationally. He lives with his wife Mary Jane in California's Carmel-by-the-Sea. |
